Communications Manager

With 25 years of experience, we take a hands-on approach to supporting our portfolio companies while strengthening our brand through thought leadership, community engagement, and strategic communications.

We are seeking a Communications Manager to join our Lisbon office and take ownership of our communications strategy, brand presence, and key stakeholder engagement efforts. This role requires a proactive, organized, and strategic professional who thrives in dynamic environments, particularly within the startup and venture capital ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

Events Management

  • Plan and execute Armilar’s proprietary events, including our annual Investor Day, the Sphaera community Get-together, webinars, and other sponsored events.
  • Organize additional networking initiatives such as co-sponsored events, breakfasts, and thought leadership forums to strengthen the Armilar brand.
  • Oversee Armilar’s presence at external events, ensuring strategic participation, agenda tracking, attendee assignments, and budget management.

Content & Thought Leadership

  • Develop a structured content strategy to enhance Armilar’s position as a thought leader in the venture capital ecosystem.
  • Work closely with the investment team to create insightful content including articles, reports, case studies, and whitepapers.
  • Ensure the consistency of Armilar’s brand voice across all communication materials.

Social Media & PR

  • Oversee and optimize the work of our external PR agency, ensuring high-quality execution of media strategies.
  • Increase Armilar’s visibility, through targeted PR campaigns and social media initiatives.
  • Manage and curate content across LinkedIn, Twitter, and other relevant platforms to engage with the startup and investor communities.

Sphaera Community Engagement

  • Actively promote and foster engagement within Sphaera, our exclusive community of startup founders.
  • Develop initiatives to encourage knowledge-sharing and collaboration among members.
  • Ensure Sphaera remains a valuable platform for the community through curated content and structured interactions.

Operational & Budget Management

  • Own the communications budget, tracking and optimizing expenses related to events, sponsorships, PR, and social media.
  • Define internal processes to ensure structured and efficient planning, execution, and measurement of all communication activities.
  • Assign tasks to the internal team when necessary, ensuring seamless collaboration across initiatives.

Ideal Profile & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in the startup ecosystem, preferably in a venture capital (VC), corporate venture capital (CVC), incubator/accelerator, or media agency environment.
  • Strong background in communications, marketing, or related fields.
  • Exceptional English proficiency—spoken and written (flawless communication skills required).
  • Deep understanding of branding, PR, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects while maintaining a strategic, high-level perspective.
  • Strong cultural alignment with Armilar’s values, positioning, and voice.
  • Experience managing external agencies, event logistics, and community engagement is a plus.
